HOLME VALLEY BRASS BAND CONTEST

Holmfirth Civic Hall
This will be the 82nd Holme Valley Brass Band Contest. It is run in three sections: championship; first and second section bands; and third and fourth section bands. We also hope to run a youth section.The presentation of awards by the Chair of Holme Valley Parish Council will take place at approximately 6.30pm. The adjudicator is David Hirst.

A WARM FIRE, A CUP OF TEA AND THE ANTIQUES ROADSHOW

Former Executive Producer Christopher Lewis discusses the origins and subsequent history of this extraordinarily successful television programme, with video clips from the archives and many a backstage tale.

PHILHARMONIC BRASS IN CONCERT

St David’s Church, Holmbridge
Philharmonic Brass consists of four trumpets, two French horns, three trombones, tuba, percussion and conductor who perform music ranging from mainstream classics, through big band, film scores to modern works. Between them they have played with many orchestras and groups including the Hallé, CBSO, BBC, and London Symphony, and have appeared on the BBC, Granada and Yorkshire television.

LIVE IN HOLMFIRTH!

This weekend sees a series of live music events showcasing the talent of the musicians and variety of music on offer in the Holme Valley. During the day the Old Bridge and the church courtyard will play host to local musicians, everything from classical to folk. The evenings will see live music events from a sixties shindig featuring Thee Cybermen to experimental pop from Napoleon IIIrd and Black Country & Western from Old Man Pie.
