Making a welcome return to Holmfirth, virtuoso percussionists O Duo whizz around the stage as you’ve never seen before. Expect to hear a marimba, a vibraphone, a glockenspiel, a range of drums and a plethora of handheld percussion.  The pair performs music by many different composers and styles, including Bach, Philip Glass, Chopin and Desmond. Join us as we end the Festival with a bang!

O Duo have performed across the world, from the BBC Proms to Al Bustan and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. As passionate supporters of new music, they have won a Special Commissioning Award from the Borletti-Buitoni Trust. As inspiring educators, they have been appointed Artistic Directors of the Children’s Classic Concerts series in Scotland.  O Duo‘s repertoire spans more than 300 years and is an invigorating mix of popular classics and accessible contemporary music.

Oliver Cox and Owen Gunnell formed O Duo in 2000 while studying at the Royal College of Music. In 2002 they made their Edinburgh Fringe Festival début with their show, ‘Bongo Fury‘, which they played over 25 times to sell-out crowds and critical acclaim. This led to them returning to the Fringe for two more years, and also laid a platform for their future success in a number of competitions, including being selected by Young Concert Artists Trust for representation in 2005.

Since then, O Duo has gone from strength to strength. They’ve given global recitals, performing both chamber music and concertos in many of the country’s top concert halls. They played in Hyde Park for the Last Night of the Proms, have commissioned many new works, and have inspired countless children (and adults!) around the world. Their virtuosic performances, laid-back presentation and passion for both percussion and music in general makes them a must see.

“Phenomenal artistry… brimming with style and panache”
The Daily Telegraph
