Sing Holmfirth!

It’s that slightly crazy time of year again – just over three weeks to go before the Festival kicks off and lots of last minute planning going on. Thankfully we have an army of fabulous supporters who are busy delivering our Festival brochure and posters to local shops, cafes, libraries and restaurants. We really couldn’t run the event without them.
In the background arts and community groups are creating a unique art trail for the River Holme – lookout for a washing line of photographs by Holmfirth Camera Club and flocks of returning swallows in the trees by the river. These are just two of the 14 installations which will be installed both in and along the river banks throughout the Festival.

Rehearsals for our Sing Holmfirth! event on Sunday 17th June at 3pm are also in full swing with a chance for members of the public to get involved on Thursday 24th May – come along to the Parish Church in Holmfirth at 2pm or 7pm and learn some cracking songs about the valley, written by local composer Barry Russell. And starting on Wednesday 6th June there will be regular workshops at Holmfirth Market Hall where you and your family can make your own costumes for this year’s Carnival Parade which takes place on Saturday 16th June at 2pm. The theme this year is ‘Fallow the Swallow’ and we are expecting a murmuration of fantastical winged creatures.

Don’t miss out on getting involved – keep an eye on the website and follow us on Twitter and Facebook.
