Work with us

If you're an artist, performer, curator or producer and you'd like to work with Holmfirth Arts Festival we'd love to hear from you. There are some things we're particularly interested in and this information is designed to help you decide whether your project is right for Holmfirth. 

We're always interested in ideas which have a connection to Yorkshire or to the Holme Valley and its surrounding areas. Work which has something to do with the natural environment often suits the festival; we're currently developing an ongoing project inspired by the River Holme for example. The natural world is at the heart of this festival so if that's something that relates to your work do talk to us. Projects which involve walking in the Holme Valley are particularly welcome.

Theatre

We don't have conventional theatre spaces so all our theatre and performance is site-specific, site-responsive, or just takes place somewhere unusual or off the wall. We're interested in work that can take place in tea shops, churches, shop windows, gardens, streets and other ordinary spaces. We also show work in village halls.

Music

Music takes up about a third of the programme. We're interested in all sorts of stuff, including bands, classical music (chamber), folk and jazz. We only do a little folk as Holmfirth already has its wonderful Festival of Folk every May. Most of the musicians we work with will be Yorkshire based, or Northwest, but we do programme artists from further afield when we're especially excited about their work. 

Art

Our visual art programme tends to be commissioned. We don't do much gallery based work - if you'd like to exhibit in a gallery you're better off contacting Holmfirth's Art Week which runs each July. We'll put out calls for proposals in the Autumn/Winter of each year based on particular curatorial themes - if you'd like to be on the mailing list to receive these calls, please email info@holmfirthartsfestival.co.uk.
