2020 Online Programme

Holmfirth Arts Festival is nestled in the Holme Valley, surrounded by the glorious Pennine Hills of West Yorkshire. This year (due to Covid-19)  we are going online to celebrate our unique area by inviting the best local, national and international artists to respond to the theme of the environment, in all its diversity.

Our Festival encourages local people and visitors to get creative and explore Holmfirth's unique location with installations that you can safely enjoy in the landscape and a cracking online programme that will stream at 7.30pm over the three evenings on Friday 18th, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th September.

Highlights include award winning comedian Kieran Hodgson, with new material written especially for us, new cello music commissioned for this year's Festival from Slow Cooked Louie and Biscuithead and the Biscuit Badgers playing us out

with a singalong tune!

If you already know Holmfirth and the Holme Valley, the Festival is an opportunity to see it a little differently.

If you’ve not yet discovered this beautiful part of Yorkshire then September is the perfect time to join us online.

The online festival will be hosted by writer/broadcaster/comedian Nick Ahad and will broadcast live from Bikeshed TV in Clayton West.  It will comprise a series of three 45 minute magazine programmes and will include all the acts and projects in our programme. We aim to provide amazing entertainment that you can enjoy with friends and family from the comfort of your sofa.

In addition to the online Festival, look out for some installations that you can enjoy outdoors and in the landscape in a socially distanced way.  Dragon Willow is creating and installing some living willow sculptures in Sands Recreation Grounds, local environmental charity fairandfunky are creating a Recycled Forest in shop windows made from recycled paper and the Solarphones (Chris Ruffoni's solar powered instruments) will be installed Holmside Gardens.

Plus, there are loads of opportunities to get creative and get involved, Visit out participate pages to see how your art work can be featured out and about in the town and in the online festival.

I do hope you’ll join us online on 18th-20th September and, in the meantime please follow us on social media and our website. Also, should you have the means to do so, please contribute to keeping our Festival alive by donating by text here or on line here.
