Service Description

A 3 hour in person training raining sessions for anyone who works with, or anticipates working with people with learning disabilities (Self-Advocates). The training is co-delivered alongside Self-Advocates who will bring their experience of accessibility issues. The aim is not simply to provide ‘tick box’ training, but for learners to gain a real insight into some of the challenges faced by Self-Advocates and how they can be minimised. Learners will get first-hand experience of understanding different communication styles. Looking at the social history of disability as well as current equality agendas, learners will explore stereotypes, language and terminology, barriers to communication.
