BUNDLE DYEING USING LOCAL FLORA AND FAUNA with Isobel Denton of abitmoreink

Age 8+ to adult. Learn how to use locally foraged flora to create patterns and prints using bundle dyeing techniques and natural dyes. The fabric samples you create will be perfect to use in the patchwork and material manipulation workshops.

About the Event

Remember to pick up your materials from Holmfirth Tech (choose 1 date/time and drop in)

Saturday 29th August 10.30am-12noon

Tuesday 1st  Sept. 10.30am-12noon

Wednesday 2nd 2-4pm

Friday 4th 2-4pm

Saturday 5th 2pm-4pm

Sunday 6th 2pm-4pm

What you will need:

Scraps of natural cloth(preferably silk, linen and wool) pale coloured, can be patterned. Old clothes, tea  towels, bed linen or woolen blankets etc.

Assorted leaves, dark flowers and petals (roses, buddleia) berries, bark and seeds

Twigs, nails, stones, coins, washers, keys

Spray bottle,



Natural threads, string, ribbon

X2 Large jam jars with lids


Old pan not used for cook food anymore

Onion skins, eucalyptus leaves, fresh or dried turmeric, purple cabbage or carrots, teabags, coffee or any plant based dyes.

What we will provide (Collection from Holmfirth Tech)

Silk thread (can be used in the patching or embellishment workshops)

Pre-mordanted silk and wool small fabric pieces

Pay as you feel/donations welcome

We always offer our participatory programme free of charge, however, due to Covid-19, our Supporters have been unable to run our usual pre-festival fundraising events, so please donate what you can by text or website.  You can donate as many times as you wish.
